Dr. Christopher M. Owens
Dr. Owens was born and raised in Columbus, Indiana. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies with a Science focus from Indiana University. While in undergraduate school, Dr. Owens joined the United States Marine Corps Infantry Reserve and served our country for 8 years, deploying to Iraq twice in which during that time he suffered a spinal injury. Upon returning home he sought out chiropractic treatment and experienced firsthand the healing properties of chiropractic care. It was then that he decided to advance his education and complete his degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. He became a Certified Motion Palpation Institute practitioner. Utilizing the selective functional movement assessment (SFMA), Dr. Owens exposes critical biomechanical compensations hidden in the body. This allows him to focus on the underlying dysfunction rather than "chasing pain". Through the researched based techniques of dry needling (AAMT), Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM), myofascial release (MFR), and dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS), he is able to not only rehabilitate his patients but strengthen the loss function to help prevent reoccurrence of injury. Dr. Owens believes in chiropractic care for all ages. His passion is working with his fellow military brothers and sisters and first responders in the community. When not treating patients, Dr. Owens focuses his time on staying current with new treatment methods, recently becoming certified in clinical dry needling and currently pursuing his acupuncture license. During his leisure time you can find Dr. Owens at CrossFit Lupos working out and utilizing his CrossFit level 1 training certification (CF-L1) & USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach to help others in their fitness goals, Worshiping at iTown Church, or on the golf course. Most importantly, he loves to be home spending time with his wife Jessica and daughter, Harper.
Dr. Owens entered the United States Marine Corps on 09/11/2003 and was honorably discharged from the 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines Kilo Company on 09/11/2011. During his career as an infantryman, Dr. Owens was deployed with Charlie Company of the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines to serve his country during the third battle of Fallujah in 2006/2007. He redeployed in 2009/2010 with his home unit to provide border patrol at the Syria and Jordan ports to Iraq.
Dr. Owens is still active with the military community. He holds an executive position on the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Indiana (MCCCI), helping to improve the lives of Marines, FMF Corpsman, Navy Chaplains, and their families in Indiana by supporting and coordinating statewide Marine Corps organizations efforts. Dr. Owens takes pride in assisting the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) in raising funds to provide academic scholarships to children of United States Marines and Navy Corpsmen. The Scholarship Foundation is the Nation's oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarship to military children.
